Introduction to Japanese, The Learning Annex, Vancouver
While I was pursuing my Masters, I worked as a TA (Teaching Assistant) with undergraduate students from around the world, and lived for two years with a foreign student from Shanghai. She needed to improve her English, and I wanted to improve my Mandarin. Each and every day became a language learning and teaching experience. As well, I worked for two summers as a guide at the Vancouver Aquarium, showing foreign tourist groups around the facility and explaining all the exhibits. I have been an English literacy volunteer for several years, working with new Canadians learning English as second (or third, or fourth!) language. I can provide excellent personal and professional references.
